Writing Prompt #5
The Echoes of Love in Light Years
Writing Time Friday - May 23, 2025
Hi, Wordsmith —
Friday is here along with a shiny new writing prompt:
After centuries apart, two stars find themselves as humans on Earth, drawn together by a cosmic pull.
Thanks to WTFridays by Freewrite here is my story based on the above prompt:
The Echoes of Love in Light Years.
In the vibrant canvas of the cosmos, where stars twinkle and galaxies sprawl, there existed two remarkable celestial beings, Vega and Altair. Renowned for their splendid luminescence and colossal size, they were more celebrated for their inseparable bond, a bond that transcended galaxies, undeterred by black holes, and unfathomable to the universe.
However, one fateful cosmic event led to a complex astral rearrangement, tearing Vega and Altair apart, casting them to distant corners of the cosmos. The star-crossed pair grieved silently, clinging to their shared memories, their light somewhat dimming, their celestial harmony disrupted.
Centuries passed. The echo of their bond resonated through the cosmic symphony, reaching a planet vibrant with life, Earth. The cosmic force hearkening to their compelling saga, decided to reunite them.
Vega and Altair found themselves born as humans, inexplicably entranced by the night sky. They had no conscious memory of their celestial past, but they carried an unexplained cosmic energy, a magnetic pull that guided them through life.
Vega was reborn as a prominent astronomer, Evelyn, and Altair was incarnated as a passionate theoretical physicist, Alec. Both were driven by an inexplicable yearning towards the stars. Evelyn spent night after night studying celestial bodies, her gaze often lingering at one particular star with an inexplicable familiarity. Alec, on the other hand, dwelled on cosmic theories, fascinated by the celestial mechanics but hounded by an offbeat rhythm in his heart whenever he glimpsed at a certain bright star. Their paths inevitably crossed at an international astronomy conference.
The moment Alec and Evelyn locked eyes, the room became their universe. There was an intense familiarity in their encounter, an innate connection, a cosmic deja vu. They were drawn to each other like earth to the sun, like moon to the sea.
Their connection didn't dilute in the mundaneness of earthly life. Instead, they grew more intrigued by the relation they couldn't compute. Their love story was as enigmatic as the cosmos they studied. Love letters turned into scientific discussions, romantic dinners into stargazing nights. They got lost in each other's eyes as much as they got lost in the cosmos, finding bits of themselves in between nebulas and constellations.
One ordinary evening under countless extraordinary stars, Alec's gaze fell on a bright star. Simultaneously, Evelyn pointed at the same star. Their mutual fascination was the star they were once part of.
So it was that Vega and Altair found each other, not as stars but as two human beings, drawn together by a cosmic pull that no earthly force could disrupt. Their past was lost in time, in the corners of a Universe too vast for human comprehension, but their love, unextinguishable, even in a human life, was proof that it had travelled across galaxies and through time. It was a love, like their celestial bodies, shining bright in the canvases of human hearts and the depths of the universe.
